David Van Looveren , piano
After his debut at the age of nine in the Main Hall of Theater aan de Parade in 's-Hertogenbosch, he spent his musical youth performing in concerts at home and abroad and participating successfully in competitions, including first prizes at the Cantabile Competition, the Axion Classics Competition and the Stephan de Jonghe Competition.
David Van Looveren began his piano lessons with Evelyne Deckers and perfected his skills with Jan Wijn.
He obtained his master's degree at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp,
followed advanced training at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, attended the chamber music seminar at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent and participated in numerous masterclasses both nationally and internationally.
His growing affinity for chamber music led to the founding of the “ensemble hommages”.
This was followed by a variety of projects ranging from complete performances of Johannes Brahms' chamber music repertoire to collaborations with folk musicians in a concept based on Béla Bartok and the creation of commissioned compositions.
After inspiring experiences with music theatre, including at the Philharmonie Luxembourg, he threw himself into his own productions such as “Ende Nich(t)?” with actor Stefaan Degand in the role of Robert Schumann and “Redlounge”, in which he intensified the work of Olivier Messiaen with electronic music and dance performed at the Petrol Club in Antwerp.
As artistic director of the Rednote Festival, he worked with architect Bart Lens to find the points of contact between music and architecture and programmed ensembles in Hasselt's museums, including Champ d'Action in Z33.
As a piano accompanist, David Van Looveren is affiliated with the academies of Hemiksem, Wilrijk and Borgerhout. He also accompanies auditions, competitions, concerts and internships at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, collaborates as an orchestral musician on productions by the Brussels Philharmonic and is active as a choir accompanist and song accompanist (including for Liesbeth Devos, Valerie Vervoort, Cristel De Meulder, Dorine Mortelmans and Hendrickje Van Kerckhove). He forms a permanent duo with saxophonist Bart Van Beneden and his daughter, violist Charlotte Van Looveren.
