elke wynants, cello
elke wynants started playing the cello with claudine steenackers at the music academy in vilvoorde. she obtained the final degree with highest distinction in 1997 at the music academy in boom and the same year became a laureate at the pro civitate competition.
she continued her cello studies in brussels and antwerp with harro ruysenaars,fFrance springuel, didier poskin and jeroen reuling. masterclasses she attended were with marie hallynck, walter grimmer, louis claret, gary hoffman, justus grimm, françois guy, y. wang and s. firelj.
in june 2005 she finished with the highest distinction in the class of didier poskin.
she was section leader at the ‘jonge philharmonie’ and from 2002 until 2004 she was a member of the european youth orchestra. with this orchestra she played under the baton of vladimir ashkenazy and bernard haitink during tours through europe and brasil.
for several years now, elke has been working as a freelance musician with orchestras such as the national orchestra of belgium, nuove musiche, the flemish opera, the flemish radio orchestra, the charlemagne orchestra and la monnaie.
elke also is an active chamber musician : in october 2005 she won the second prize in the ‘horlait dapsens’ competition with her violin-cello duo. with her string quartet ‘da vinci’ she studied at the ‘chapelle reine elisabeth’ with the famous ‘artemis quartet’.
in 2010 she won the cello audition with the flemish radio orchestra.
